Dear Editor, As I was driving on the old Seamus Quirke Road heading left towards Rahoon, I stopped at the red light. As I waited for the light to change, the car behind me blew their horn indicating to me to drive on. I pointed to the red light but still they persisted with the horn blowing. At this stage I thought of getting out of my car to explain to them the reason I had stopped but thought better of it as the lights were about to change. This is not the first time this has happened to me but no matter what I do to inform them of the red light it seems that they don't understand or they choose to ignore and break the law regardless. Also on more than one occasion while using the lights as a pedestrian with the green man showing, I see the cars coming round the corner looking for traffic on the right and upon seeing none drive through the red light without any regard for the pedestrian. My fear, of course, is that, as a lot of pedestrians use these lights (including children and the elderly), someone will get badly injured or even killed unless motorists obey the law and stop when the light shows red.
