Dear Editor, It was decided by the European Court of Justice on 18 December last that a company based in one EU state can bring migrant workers to another country and pay them no more than the minimum wage. This means that Irish workers who currently work in any business, shop, restaurant, hotel, etc, whose base is in another country in the European Union, will be given an ultimatum: either lose your job or agree to be paid no more than the minimum wage. Companies can easily replace Irish workers' jobs with migrant workers who can't be paid more than the minimum wage anyway. This is very unfair...Trade Unions' efforts to take action against foreign companies paying wages lower than the normal national rates have been outlawed, which is a violation of the rights of the migrant workers. Trade Unionists and politicians across Europe have attacked the ruling, describing it as a blow to workers' rights and it opens the door to 'wage dumping'. We will see the effects of this if the treaty is passed here. The EU Reform Treaty is a re-hash of the EU Constitution. The EU Constitution president has even admitted that the treaty would make the countries who welcome it into an empire. Germany would have three times more votes than Ireland. The EU has been eager for Ireland to acknowledge gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia, the list goes on. If we vote on any of these matters (and we will almost certainly be made to do by the EU) and we reject them, it will not make a difference as the EU will over-rule the decision anyway, under the treaty. Irish people and the citizens of other EU countries would be denied any say in a number of important future changes. Once the treaty is passed the EU will be governed by an unelected commission that answers to no one. I advise that to see for yourself even more of the effects to Ireland and its people, you should take a look at www.EUReform.net. This treaty has been kept hushed by the government, who want to please the EU so people will be ill informed and see the treaty as no threat. The Irish workers will suffer, the voters' rights will suffer, the morals and principles of this country will suffer and, finally, our country will suffer. I'm only 14 years old so I can't vote. I can only urge you to vote on the right decision. For yourselves and for your country, vote 'No'.
EM,
Vote NO - for all european people
written by Stephan Schmitt, May 08, 2008 I’m writing you from Germany and we all hope you have success by stopping the EU Treaty! And I hope you can forgive my miserable English, too. We don’t have a right on a referendum and though our best wishes are with you and your campaigns. In all over Europe the people standing close to another for stopping this unholy thing called EU Treaty. We all know about the consequences and now it is time to build bridges between the people all over Europe. This is the Europe of the European People and not the Europe of the European Industry and Warlords. Here in Germany, Austira, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and some other countries people go out on the streets for standing against our Governments. Take a look here: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=5sIgyX0jeuI&feature=related Although there is a legal accusation against members of the German government, including chancellor Angela Merkel and president Köhler and others, because of high treason. That is because the government, incl. chancellor Merkel and all of her ministers, are handing over the national souvereignity of Germany to an undemocratic organisation calling itself the European Union. This governmental action is forbidden by the German Grundgesetz in several articles. High Treason in our law is defined as “ using violence to remove the democratic organisation of the state.” The Merkel Administration uses its power over the state media - and their associated private media corporations, such as Bertelsmann corporation , Springer Verlag and others - to silence the democratic opposition against the EU Treaty of Lisboa and to deconstruct the democratic German state and replacing it by a nondemocratic organisation serving economic interests of a few corporations only – but not the peoples interests and their legal democratic rights. The abuse of media power and the silencing of the legal opposition in the media of the state is, in the opinion of the informers of the state prosecutor, violence. In fact no country of the forthcoming EU totalitarism will have any significant or fundamental rights to reign itself through the will of the People. But the will of the people is the fundamental of every democracy. It is ignored by the EU and, as far as Germany is concerned, the German government, too. You can follow the links at the end of this text to read about the concerned laws and the charge because of high treason in Geman. Best wishes Stephan Schmitt ...
written by Amanda Vale, April 09, 2008 g'day mate well done from all of us down under on the set of home and away Miss
written by Mary Walshe, March 08, 2008 Well done Elizabeth Macken. I know you well and not a better girl than yourself to talk about the Lisbon Treaty. What a disaster it would be to see the Lisbon Treaty passed.Vote no. READ THIS FOR TRUTH
written by A NATION OF SHEEP, March 07, 2008 The referendum bill published by the Government makes the Irish Constitution completely subject to the European Union, Libertas Chairman Declan Ganley has said this morning. Referring to a clause in the bill that states that no provision of the Irish constitution will invalidate any measure taken by the European Union, Mr. Ganley said that the Lisbon treaty did nothing to make the EU more democratically accountable while conferring on it absolute supremacy over Ireland. He also announced that Libertas would launch a full-scale referendum campaign on Wednesday next, March 12th. The relevant clause of the bill states: "NO PROVISION OF THIS CONSTITUTION invalidates laws enacted, acts done or measures adopted by the State that are necessitated by membership of the European Union, or prevents laws enacted, acts done or measures adopted by the said European Union or by institutions thereof, or by bodies competent under the treaties referred to in this section, from having the force of law in the State." Nice One lad
written by Sharon Keogh, March 07, 2008 Very well written and put together. If a 14 year old can see whats wrong with the Lisbon Treaty, surely so can the rest of the nation! Sadly, I think not. Fianna Fail, who no longer represent the will of the people, has become a sad, sad bunch of hypocrites. Whats worse is that the green Party is supporting them! Neither will get mine or my families vote again. Fianna Fail have already arranged it that the Referendum body will ONLY spell out one side of the argument - the government side. This is a farce in itself! Join or at least read the site http://www.libertas.org/ for the truth about how we are being hoodwinked by the Fianna Fail crooks in the Dail. "NO" to the Lisbon Treaty. Ireland must not be allowed to be shoved and pushed around like dumb sheep, Fianna Fail is treating us like. Well done young man
written by Jeff Rudd, March 07, 2008 Well done young man. Truer words have never been spoken. Fianna Fail are sending our rights, votes and democracy to Europe to get lost in a tide of paper and many, many unelected desks. The treaty of Lisbon for Ireland is a nightmare that the Fianna Fail are trying to hide from the public. EVERY country is avoiding a referendum because they ALL know its not wanted by the public in each country. It seems then that we are not allowed to have our voices then heard. That is a crime! WE ALL MUST VOTE "NO" |
