Abortion is a human wrong E-mail

Dear Editor,
It is shocking that the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights' recently called on the Irish government to introduce abortion legislation. This is a callous betrayal of the human rights of the most vulnerable section of European society, the unborn child.

Abortion is not a human right, it is a human wrong, because it is the direct and deliberate taking of an innocent human life. Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, 'Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.'

The right to life is the most basic and important human right, without it all other rights are meaningless. The failure of the Council of Europe to vindicate the right to life of unborn children is a shocking betrayal of the vision of those Europeans who, after the slaughter of World War II, worked to build a Europe that protected and vindicated the human rights of all sections of society.

Yours sincerely,

A woman has the right to choose:the right to choose whether to keep the child or to give it up for adoption.No-one has the right to take a life.fhjrx

I'm not a pro-lifer or a con-lifer but I do appreciate that a child can speak for itself, although in a limited capacity, but a foetus has no way of declaring its wishes.

How would you appreciate it if people decided to kill you because you were either a mistake, or a result of a crime, but you didn't want to die?

How would you react if people decided that although you were a mistake, or the result or a crime, allowed you to live and you were the one to develop a cure for diseases that are currently incurable, or that you were the one to bring about world peace, or you were the one to unite the Middle-east, Africa and/or South America?

Millions of foetuses are terminated every year and frankly, they could be the foetuses that were going to become the humans that changed the world in a good way. But, alas, we will never know!

Free abortions for all!

Respect a woman's right to choose! Strange how most of these "pro-lifers" only care about feotuses but don't give a damn with it becomes a child.
