‘Lark in the Land’, an evening of music, song and dance takes place in Leisureland, Galway on Friday 10 June at 8pm.
‘Lark in the Land’ will be a wonderful celebration of music, song and dance showcasing the talent of lots of children and adults from schools, groups, choirs and musical societies in County Galway. The night promises to be filled with variety. It will feature groups of singers and dancers from the National Children’s Choir, Something to Sing About Galway, Dunmore Choir, Belclare Comhaltas, Presentation College Tuam and Jay Molyneux Dance Company Galway.
They will all come together for one night only to perform, entertain and to raise money for Western Alzheimer’s.
There will also be some extremely talented soloists, including Mr. Shane Kelly from Tuam. Shane has just recently been nominated for Best Male Vocalist with the A.I.M.S for his role as Anatoly in the Marian Choral Society’s production of Chess last November.
This night is in memory of Marie Larkin, who sadly passed away in December 2016. Marie had a great love for music and musical theatre. She was a long-standing member of the Cathedral Choir and the Marian Choral Society in Tuam and was a member of both, until a time where she was no longer able to take part, due to her struggle with dementia.
‘Lark in the Land’ will be an evening of remembrance, of loved ones past, and those who can no longer remember. “When music is in your heart it can never be forgotten, so we should recognise its importance, acknowledge its benefits for degenerative diseases and support a very worthy cause,” say organisers.
Western Alzheimer’s look after a great number of people in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. Without support, and events like this one, they could not continue to provide the excellent service and care to hundreds of families in the West of Ireland.
Tickets will be on sale in Quinn’s Shop, Tuam (093-26060), online at www.eventbrite.com or by calling 086-2364513.
