Jurys Inn Hotel Group has completed a major redesign and refurbishment of its Galway hotel following a €1.5 million investment, with an additional €250,000 earmarked for the refurbishment of reception, restaurant and bar areas in the second half of 2013.
The investment forms part of an extensive €31 million refurbishment programme currently being rolled out by Jurys Inn Hotel Group, which will also see €7.5 million spent on redesigning bedrooms in Christchurch, Cork, Glasgow and Leeds by the end of this year.
The redesign comes on the back of eight new hotel openings between 2009 and 2011, a significant ongoing IT investment programme and refurbishments to Jurys Inn hotels in Chelsea, Islington, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Glasgow, Belfast and Birmingham.
The investment in the Galway hotel, which first opened its doors in 1993 and this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, included a complete redesign of the hotel’s 130 rooms.
Commenting on the investment in the Galway hotel, Elaine Mellotte, Interim General Manager Jurys Inn Galway, said: “In addition to our extensive experience and track record of great customer service accumulated over 20 years, we are looking forward to showcasing our newly redesigned bedrooms and continuing to provide our guests with great quality and value hotel rooms and facilities in Galway City.”
The Irish hotel group now operates 32 hotels across Europe – seven in Ireland, 24 in the UK and one in Prague, and was recently named the ‘Best Irish Hotel Chain’ at the 2013 Irish Travel Industry Awards for the second time running. In 2012, the hotel group was named the ‘Best Small or Independent Hotel Brand’ at the 2012 Business Travel Awards, having also received the award in 2010. In addition, Jurys Inn continues to be Ireland and the UK’s Greenest Hotel Group, recognised by the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS).
