Audi have fixed the end of January next as the date for the arrival into Ireland of their new re-styled, four-seater,
A classic in terms of its design and customer appeal, the new A4 Cabriolet comes with new facial features that include the unmistakable single-frame grille that has become the recognisable feature across the entire Audi range. New too are re-styled clear-glass front and rear lights. The progressive styling evident on the outside is echoed inside in a new steering wheel, aluminium trim door sills and attractive new seat coverings.
Another significant change comes in improvements to its dynamic handling characteristics giving it an altogether sportier and responsive feel.
A car for all seasons, the A4 Cabriolet can be used without restriction in summer and winter thanks to its good thermal insulation qualities. Its fully automatic, electro-hydraulic hood can be opened/closed all within 20 seconds at a speed up to 30 km/h – an important feature in city conditions where it is not always possible to stop.
The A4 Cabriolet comes with four engines, three of which are offered in this model for the very first time. They are: a 1.8-litre, 163 bhp petrol powered Turbo version with 226 km/h top speed; a 200 bhp 2.0-litre FSI Turbo and a 3.2-litre FSI, 255 bhp V6 version with 250 km/h top speed. Two diesel versions are a 2.0-litre TDI, 140 bhp model with 212 km/h top speed and a 3.0-litre TDI, V6, 233 bhp version with 242 km/h top speed.
Transmission is 5-speed or 6-speed manual or continuously variable multitronic automatic transmission. Six-speed tiptronic is available for quattro four-wheel drive models. Latest-generation ESP combines with four-link front suspension and self-tracking trapezoidal-link rear suspension to deliver precise, agile handling.
A comprehensive occupant protection system includes two-stage driver’s airbag and side airbags, improved side impact protection and active twin roll-over bars. All seats are equipped with three-point inertia-reel belts with front belt-force limiters and belt tensioners.
Electric windows are part of the standard equipment package, as are air conditioning with separate temperature controls for driver and front passenger, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and remote control central locking system. Customers can choose from 13 exterior colours and four hood colours.
Though prices have yet to be fixed, Audi sales manger in Ireland, John Hayes believes that the high level of specifications present in the new model will ensure that it consolidates its position as the best selling cabriolet in the luxury segment.
