Schools Primary Futsal
This week I will be running the FAI Galway Primary Schools Futsal competitions. The competition caters for boys in third and fourth classes which delivers a quality fast paced action packed game focusing on skill, speed and technique. Futsal is an indoor version of association football. It is played between two teams of five players and unlike some other forms of indoor football, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regulation football. The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
Football for All
Today we will complete another seasonal football programme for children with cerebral palsy and development coordination disorder. The children taking part are aged 7 to 12 and attend Wednesday afternoons from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. This programme gives the children an opportunity to get some physical activity in an environment that aims to improve their movement, awareness and teamwork.
