This autumn’s dry conditions continued for another weekend of Cross Country action at St Mary’s College with Galway clubs shining.
The action in the odd ages and intermediate championships kicked off with the U-11 girls and Loughrea’s Chloe Casey delivered a gutsy performance to take a wonderful silver.
In the U-11 boys, Phelim McCann of Craughwell AC took Bronze which was enough to secure a silver medal for his club with a total of 53 points.
Loughrea AC were rewarded with even more good news as Arlene Earls dominated the girls U-13 race to record a famous victory.
Galway City Harrier Aoife Sheehy won bronze, leading GCH to silver medal in the team category.
In the U15 girl’s race Shannon Lee recorded a brilliant second Connacht title in as many weeks, leading her club to team gold in the process with a fine 37 points.
Craughwell AC’s all-conquering U-15 Boys team took home another Gold in the U-15 race, while Liam Moran stepped up in age to win the race outright as James Cahalane gave chase and took the individual bronze.
Galway City Harriers took individual bronze in the U-17 race with a fine performance by Maebh Brannigan, and Craughwell AC dominated the U-17 boys race, with four athletes in the top six, as Jamie Spellman powered to win the title in another devastating display of front running ahead of Conor Gillen.
