Galway City has been deemed ‘Cleaner than European Norms’ in the 2012 litter survey from business group Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL).
Galway City is ranked in 15th place in the survey and was among 22 towns out of 42 to receive the designation, with a further 13 classed as ‘Clean to European Norms’. It was rated the second cleanest of Ireland’s cities, coming just behind Kilkenny.
The report on Galway City by An Taisce stated that most of the approach roads and associated link roads into Galway City were in “very good order” and that this high standard was sustained for well over the majority of the sites surveyed.
Galwegians RFC was however criticised as “by far the most heavily littered site surveyed in Galway”.
