I reperesent the Blakes in Australia who are descendants of the Blakes of Galway and am concerned about the removal of the ruins of Menlough Castle to make way for redevelopment of the site on the Corrib River. These ruins represent the seat of the Blake families in Galway and many who travel from other parts of the world seek to make at least one trip in their lifetime to this site. All efforts should be made by members of the family and heritage societies in Galway to protest the removal of this important site. Galway will regret over redevelopment in the future, as it will loose it's appealing charm. Ireland is unique for its countryside and history and this must be preserved, not only for the effect that tourism has on the economy but for the people of Ireland and those who have their roots there.
