Eircom is to extend its fibre broadband network to a further six locations in County Galway.
Locations include Ballymoneen, Ballinasloe, Loughrea, Galway, Roscam and Tuam, bringing to nine the number of locations in Galway included in Eircom’s fibre roll out plan. Oranmore was included in Phase IV of the plan, while Mervue was announced in Phase I and Shantalla in Phase II.
The next phase of the network roll out is scheduled to finish in December 2014 and will reach one million premises around the country.
Eircom Group CEO Herb Hribar said the company remains fully committed to its investment strategy in high-speed broadband and constructing Ireland’s largest fibre network is a key part of its business plan.
“The new fibre network will provide broadband speeds of up to 70Mb to our customers by next summer. We have included six new locations in County Galway and we are committed to ensuring our customers across the country will be able to avail of high speed broadband.”
