The Galway Music Residency presents two magical Family Lunchtime Concerts this summer in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, starting on Tuesday 4 July at 1.10pm with special guests Nico and Martin.
During this one hour concert, the talented duo will take us on a very special interactive journey for little ears. They will perform ‘Out of the Door’, a suite of songs for listening and participation. This interactive performance was created to engage both children and adults with songs that originated in theatre shows at The Ark, Europe’s first children’s cultural centre in Dublin. Nico and Martin began their partnership at The Ark when it first opened, and have since toured their participatory style of free, fun and endearingly chaotic music making for families all over the world.
On Tuesday, 1 August at 1.10pm, guests The WhistleBlast Quartet will perform ‘If you go down to the woods’, bringing us on an imaginative journey and introducing us to exciting characters along the way – Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel and Peter and the Wolf to name just a few! The WhistleBlast Quartet is a talented team of performers and teachers located in Ireland with the uncanny ability to provide accessible, quality and extremely fun programming for all ages and abilities. In ten years, they have reached 60,000 young people and their families and continue to bring music to little ears throughout Ireland.
Supported by The Arts Council, NUI Galway and Galway City and County Councils, admission to these special family-friendly events is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. For further information, visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.
