The Western Writers' Centre, Ionad Scribhneoiri Chaitlin Maude, will run a two-day festival at the end of March in Gort.

The festival is themed around Yeats' symbolic use of the old Gort forge in his poetry: the forge is still there in the main street of the town.

The festival will run from Friday 28 March to Saturday 29 March in a variety of venues around the town.

"We have had novelist Evelyn Conlon to read at Sullivan's Hotel in Gort. As befits our remit, we have organised a variety of events outside Galway city. This festival will be modest and yet varied and hopefully, it has room to develop and grow," said poet and critic Fred Johnston, who is Director of the Centre.
