'Let them shiver to the bone A sex strike is the basis of a new production that runs at Nuns Island Studio later this month. 'This Means War' is the retelling of Lysistrata by Aristophanes. In this great comic fable of community action, a group of women go on sex strike to stop a war which has dragged on for years. But they don't stop at that; they take over government buildings and hold their ground. As the men get more frustrated, and the war grinds to a halt, the women too are challenged by the society and the strength of their own desires. Galway Youth Theatre perform this raucous political satire, directed by Gombeens' Miquel Barcelo and Jonathan Gunning, updated in this new version by Max Hafler, set in a country near you. The production will run at Nuns Island Studio from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 April at 8.30pm. For booking, contact the Town Hall Box Office on 091-569777. |
