As part of a music documentary on Vagabond pop, Galway born singer, composer and story collector Larry Beau and Brazzaville will play in DeBurgos on Friday 28 March at 8pm.

David Arthur Brown was a runaway on the streets of Los Angeles at the age of 15. It was during this period that he began keeping a journal and writing poetry. At the age of 18, he wound up living in San Francisco, washing dishes at a local punk rock/gay restaurant to save up money to buy a saxophone. Through much effort and low budget travel he was able to hone his skills to a level of mediocrity that landed him gigs with the likes of Beck, Siouxie Sioux, Ben Lee and Jude. In 1997, while on tour with Beck, David got the idea to form Brazzaville. Brazzaville has released six full length CDs since 2000. This year's album is called '21st Century Girl'.

Larry began as resident musician with San Francisco's Omnicircus after a stint in performance school at Berkeley in 2001. He has travelled with his folk-opera show since then in New York, Hollywood and Berlin's travelling vintage tavern -Spiegeltent. Beau's debut album, 'Peepshow Stars', introduced his world of euthanasia, tragedy, lost love and fantasy. His hybrid musical style and dramatic vocal approach has garnered comparisons to Dylan, Kate Bush, Antony and the Johnsons, Odetta and Ennio Moricone.

Beau's forthcoming album, is set for release in April, and will feature a collection of ghost tales, torch songs, and a gothic instrumental piece composed for film director, David Lynch.

Tickets, €15, are available from DeBurgos.
