A very different kind of world cinema festival comes to Galway at the end of September with the arrival of the 11th Manhattan Short Film Festival to the Town Hall Theatre. During the week of 21 to 28 September twelve short films (of duration 12 minutes and under) selected from over 500 entries, face their toughest challenge when they screen to an estimated audience of 40,000 people in over 150 cities spanning four continents in the 11th Annual film festival.

These films will not only entertain a global audience from as far North as St Petersburg in Russia to as far South as Melbourne Australia, but will be judged by them as well. Film-goers will be handed a voting card upon entry and asked to vote for the one film they think should win, with the winner announced in – yes, you guessed it...Manhattan at 9pm EST on Sunday 28 September. Film buffs in Galway get their chance to participate in the world's largest short film festival, and for more information and to read interviews with the 2008 finalists, go to www.msfilmfest.com.
