Unchained Melodies welcomes Dream Awake and Niceol Blue to the Freedom Cafe at 5pm this Thursday 22 May. ![]() Dream Awake. Niceol grew up in Pacific Northwest USA, that environment helping to shape her unique style; a mix of blues, rock and folk-Americana, strongly influenced by world and traditional music. She has performed to audience acclaim, at various venues, from the 'tiny to the huge', around USA and Ireland. Niceol's described as 'an exceptional singer-songwriter with powerful vocals' and as a 'red-headed acoustica'. She's also featured on the Unchained Melodies CD, released winter 2007. 'Dream Awake' is a progressive folk rock trio, reinventing the English folk rock sound of the 60s and 70s. With an emphasis on clever dynamics and male/female vocal harmonies, Dream Awake deliver an exciting live performance. The band formed in Tasmania, Australia in 2004 and later relocated to the thriving music scene of Melbourne in 2006. During this time, they gigged extensively at renowned venues and supported well-known Australian acts such as Deborah Conway and Nick Barker. In early 2007, Dream Awake launched their debut EP 'The Key Tree'. This was followed up with the release of their acoustic EP 'Temporary Shore' in January this year. Both have received flattering reviews and earned a respectful following for the band. In February, Dream Awake spread their wings, taking off on a musical journey. They are currently based in Ireland. The year promises to be an exciting one, with European gigs being booked and festival appearances locked in for the summer months in England and Scotland. Admission is free. If you are interested in playing or require details, contact Anna Sorensdotter, Amnesty International, 2-3 Middle Street on 091-533637 or check out www.amnesty.ie. |
