To celebrate International Human Rights Day on Monday 10 December, as well as the huge success of Amnesty International's Unchained Melodies music nights, the Róisín Dubh will host an Unchained Melodies concert and CD launch on Saturday 8 December at 8pm. This night will celebrate the huge success of the eclectic music nights, which have featured artists from around the world. Whether your music taste ranges from blues, rock, pop, this night promises fun for all music lovers. Enjoy inspirational melodies that will stay with you long after the artists have stopped singing. The night will feature Donegal musician Philip Morrow, melodic and bluesy post-folk artist Niceol Blue, Ian Canavan, Elaine Enright, David Lyons, Kevin Brett, Bobo the Galway three-piece acoustic band that has been on the go since early 2006, Ebby and Eamonn Brett, a piano playing songwriter who is a native of Galway. It will also feature Galway-based singer/songwriter Paul Mooney. Hosting the night will be comedian John Donnellan. With a comedy career just a year old, audiences throughout Ireland have fallen for Donnellan who's taken his parent's warning 'You're only fooling yourself' and somehow turned it into a way of life. What began as a bet has turned into an impressive series of gigs and won some serious plaudits. He was recently a semi-finalist at the 'So you think you're funny' competition at the Edinburgh Festival. Presale tickets, €7/€5, are available from Amnesty International 2-3 Middle Street, 091-533637, Redlight Records, Eglington Street and The Róisín Dubh on Dominick Street. |
