Two Galway acts, The Rye and Will Softly, will shake at the ShakeFest 2008 festival, which takes place at Charville Castle in Tullamore on the June bank holiday weekend from 30 May to 1 June.

This innovative and diverse festival incorporates energy, movement and dance with workshops, stalls and concerts. Whether you are into reggae or rock, indie or dance, there is something here for you. The three-day event will all be made available for only €40 with proceeds going to Irish organization Gach Duine, which is working in a town called Adaba in the Bale Region of Ethiopia.

Gach Duine, which was set up by Waterford girl Rachel O'Brien earlier this year, is trying to raise €30,000 to build a Community Centre for abused women and displaced children. There are many women in the village of Adaba who have suffered from genital mutilation, rape and abduction and yet in spite of these unimaginable violations many women are still faced with the responsibility of caring for 10 to 12 children.

Tickets are available from www.shakefest.net.
