Not happy with putting on the mighty Toots & The Maytals on Sunday week, the Róisín Dubh has announced another big reggae show at the venue by none other than the Trojan Soundsystem in September.

Since its creation in 1968, Trojan Records has led the way in presenting the very best in classic Jamaican sounds, from the Rocksteady and early Reggae sounds that dominated in the years of its launch, up to the modern styles of Dancehall and Jungle; and the London based collective formed the Soundsysytem in 2004 to represent the seminal reggae label at clubs, festivals and parties in England and throughout the World.

The Trojan Soundsystem comprises of selectors/DJs Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad and vocalists Superfour and Chucky Banton. Gateshead began DJ'ing in Brixton in 1979 and is well known in London for his 20-year residency at The Dive Bar in London's Chinatown and his Saturday residency at the legendary Blue Note club. He has worked as selector and MC with Cutty Ranks, Big Youth, Dr Alimantado, and Dennis Alcapone and his reggae nights at Plastic People received worldwide recognition. His co-selector Daddy Ad's background is as a full time drummer and he's responsible for the sound system's FX, mixdowns and sound, while vocalists Superfour and Chucky Banton have 20 years experience as members of the great South London Sound Systems: Taurus, Sir Coxsone and Saxon.

Trojan Soundsystem have just finished stints at both Glastonbury and Meltdown Festivals in the UK, and they're in Croatia for the Garden Party festival as well as back for London's Lovebox in the next month. They play Róisín Dubh on Saturday 20 September. Tickets are on sale now.
