Mary Lovett and Heather Greer.

Mary Lovett is a founder member of the Galway-based group Dusty Banjos, who have played around Ireland and in Hamburg, Berlin, Mannheim, Kiel and Lubeck, and are just back from playing in Prague.

In recent years, she has concentrated mainly on Irish music, playing banjo, mandolin and mandola.

Heather plays a variety of instruments, but nowadays focuses mainly on tremolo and octave harmonica. She also plays the concertina as a second instrument – but her present-day aim is to help increase the standing of harmonica as a respected instrument in traditional music, and to develop new sounds with the harmonica in trad music.

Mary and Heather are now working on developing a different and unique mandolin-harmonica sound in Irish music.

Unchained Melodies is followed by the poetry reading, 'Poems from Guantanamo', at 7pm.

Admission is free.
