Three of the most exciting acts in the UK and Ireland, O Emperor, Sons Of Noel And Adrian and Alessi's Ark, embark together on an extensive Irish and UK tour this month, calling in to Strange Brew in the Roisin Dubh this Thursday, 14 January. ![]() A supremely busy last quarter of 2009 saw O Emperor release their beautifully hypnotic debut single 'Po' which garnered them Single of the Fortnight accolades in Hot Press and a slew of premium radio sessions along with live TV appearances on The View, When Under Ether and Other Voices (with The xx, Florence and the Machine and Richard Hawley amongst others). With a new single - just recorded in the infamous Welsh residential studio Rockfield - in the can for a spring release, 2010 promises to be a great year for the band whose mesmerizing sound nestles easily somewhere between The Band, Midlake and Grizzly Bear. The Sons Of Noel And Adrian's self-titled debut was released in late 2008. It quickly sold out and was re-released in April 2009 to general fanfare, triggering a monumental year for the band. After touring twice in support of Mumford & Sons and completing headline tours of the UK and Germany, the band ended the year with a string of high profile shows including the Royal Festival Hall with Laura Marling, the Institute of Contemporary Arts with Peggy Sue and the Barbican with Efterklang & The Britten Sinfonia and Jaga Jazzist. Alessi's Ark's album 'Notes From The Treehouse' – recorded in Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst's studio in Nebraska - was released in May 2009 and following the release of her album she continued to woo the UK with her ethereal alt-folk sound and played support to a diverse range of artists such as Laura Marling, Mariee Sioux, Emil'ana Torrini and Cerys Matthews. Doors 9pm, admission free. Tunes from Gugai after til late. |
