Cian Ó Cíobháin, one half of SiSi, who have hosted nights such as 110th Street, Boogaloo & <BADGER> through the years, will be spinning in the Barcardi B-Bar at Oxegen this Saturday, 4pm to 5.30pm. He will be hosting Saturday at the Cellar Underground on Eglington Street, the following week, on 19 July. Cian presents An Taobh Tuathail on Anocht FM/RTE RnaG from 11pm to 1am, Mondays to Fridays. His latest compilation An Taobh Tuathail Vol 2, will be released on Psychonavigation next month. Oh - and you can also catch him in The Hive at Bar 903 this Friday night with Cyril Briscoe, where he probably won't be playing any techno, but will be pulling out gems from other genres such as electro-pop, post-punk & mutant disco.
One of the party records of the summer on Claude Von Stroke's more experimental label, this one switches gears a few times from 4/4 peaktime banger to free-style jazz swing. 2/ Monika Kruse – Mohana / Terminal M A solid gold end of nighter, where an euphoric Latino vocal takes over from the opening techno pulse, custom designed to get those hands in the air.
Melancholic techno with plenty of heart. 4/ Underworld – Ring Road (Kris Menace Remix)/Underworld Have received curious emails to the radio show about this one all summer, quite simply a banger with echoes of early Vitalic. 5/ Guy Gerber - Disorientation (Johnny D Mix)/Supplement Facts Jacking house for the heart of a Saturday night. 6/ Photonz – Trembler/Dirty Akin to Riton producing a wonky remix for My Bloody Valentine, this one has them smiling all the way out to Moycullen. 7/ Jennifer Cardini & Shonky – Tuesday Paronoia (Jamie Jones Remix)/Crosstown Rebels A record that only makes sense on a loud system, it's nuances gradually ensares the dancer into its web and the breakdown, when it comes, is worth waiting for. 8/ Kaspar Bjorke – Doesn't Matter (Jack Schidt Dub)/Plant Quite a dark direction from NYC's Plant crew, but when the tune is this good, nobody's complaining. 9/ Radio Slave - Grindhouse (Dubfire Remix)/Rekids Takes no prisoners, flattens everything in its wake, kinda like a techno version of semtex. 10/ Laurent Garnier – Panoramamix/Innervisions The flipside to Garnier's recent comeback single is a shimmering paean to Panoramabar, which is at the heart of Berlin's hedonistic nightlife. This record has a timeless feel and not a second of its 11 minute duration feels pompous or overwrought.
