The Third Policeman, a play based on one of Flann O'Brien most celebrated books, is to come to the Town Hall Theater. Adapted for the stage by Jocelyn Clarke, The Third Policeman features bicycles that are half human, humans that are half bicycle, a murder, a most unusual village police force, the writings of an eccentric philosopher and a main character who doesn't know his own name as he limps his way through a surreal world of guilt, gags and rap-trap pedals. The stage version, produced by Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, is a humorous satire, a highly entertaining and, at times, surreal journey into a world created by a masterful writer. Although he published a number of novels under the name Flann O'Brien, Flann is also remembered as one Myles na Gopaleen, the author of the much-loved Cruiskeen Lawn column in the Irish Times. The play will run from Thursday 25 October to Saturday 27 October at 8pm. Tickets are priced at €18. |
