How do you find performing in Galway?

I love Galway. I love its music, its songs. It was so much a part of my father’s musical heritage, so it’s always been a part of mine. I look forward to being in Galway on any occasion, especially a concert of my own!

How does performing in Galway differ from other performances?

It doesn’t; it’s just like home. I don’t judge an audience by numbers or applause. I feel them with me, work with them, everywhere. But as above, I do feel a special place in my heart for Galway and feel the presence of my father’s people.

Can you tell us a bit about the show?

The show is just my heart playing along with my ancestors with friends on stage feeling for, reaching out for and enjoying the comeback.

What have you been up to until now?
I’ve made a long-awaited (for me) new CD and have been a bit lazy to tell the truth. So about three years ago I decided to write a journey of music and song. It’s a sort of deliverance for me to keep the dust off and to get back in there with the new kids on the block. It’s called ‘No Farewells, No Goodbyes’ and that really sums it all up for me.

Also, I’ve just made a movie and written some of the score. The movie, ‘Strength and Honour’, is centred around the Puck fight and is to be released at the end of November.

I had a great time making it with Vinnie Jones, Richard Chamberlain, Michael Madsen and Patrick Bergin; days and nights of acting, talking, singing, playing, reading poetry with a wonderful cast and crew.

What was the highlight of the last year?

That was it!

What are your plans for the year ahead?

Promoting the album and the film.

Where next after Galway?

Finish the rest of the tour around Ireland, attend the premiere of the film in Cork on Monday 19 November, and then home for Christmas.

How did you get involved in the business?

My parents; they never did anything else and our house was just all about music, music and music.
