Switchback, a duo of Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack, will be returning to Galway for an evening of music at Richardson's Bar at 7.30pm on Sunday 2 November. Americana music with a nod to their Celtic roots is what the listener can expect to hear from one of the top independent acts touring from the States. "We are happy to be returning to Galway. We have toured Ireland several times now and always find Galway City a welcoming place. A friend of ours in Kansas met Tom Richardson, the owner of Richardson's bar, when he was touring through the state. We met Tom back in 2006 and played his establishment. It's a wonderful place," said Martin McCormack. No strangers to Ireland, Switchback have been featured guests on RTÉ Radio One with Pat Kenny and have played most of the major clubs in the country. As frequent guests of Matt Molloy's Pub in Westport, Co. Mayo, Switchback have become friends with Molloy who commented that they are "first class musicians and singers". Two of their albums have been produced by Grammy-winner Lloyd Maines, (father of Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks) with The Fire That Burns selected as a top independent release in 2003 by Performing Songwriter Magazine. For more information on the evening, contact Richardson's bar at 091-562812. |
