The Laughter Lounge is taking a break for the next two weeks but they’re back with a bang in January with a slew of top quality guest comics coming to the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday nights. The first Laughter Lounge of 2010 sees the manic Jason Byrne headlining with fellow Irish comics Eric Lalor and Paddy Courtney in tow on Wednesday 13 January. Star of Anonymous and The Byrne Ultimatum on RTE, Jason’s inspired, original brand of high-energy lunacy ensures that there is no other comedian presently like him. His fast, freewheeling style, fused with an array of offbeat props, makes his act a helter-skelter of a show – where the audience are promised the ride of their lives. He has been one of the fastest selling performers at the last 13 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, where his sell out shows have attracted Best Headliner Chortle Award in 2007, a nomination for 1998 Perrier Newcomer Award, and then a much revered Perrier Award Nomination for his outstanding 2001 show. Wednesday 20 January sees English comic Geoff Boys take centrestage along with Shane Mauss and Keith Farnan. Boyz is one of the most popular comics on the UK circuit and returns to the Laughter Lounge after a memorable show early in 2009. Scottish comic Kevin Bridges headlines on Wednesday 27 January when Aidan Bishop and Karl Spain do the warm-up duties. Glasgow born Bridges’ deadpan delivery and sharp wit has seen him rise through the comic ranks in the last few years and he made a stellar TV performance on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow earlier this year.
