The Galway centre of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, the world's largest network of part time children's theatre schools, have confirmed they will take part in a Guinness world record attempt at the Bank of Ireland Theatre, NUI on 6 December at 4.15pm.

The schools, famous for their small classes and ‘skills for life’ ethos, will produce a mythical musical called ‘Glad Rags’, written by Veronica Bennetts, with around 400 schools (19,000 students) simultaneously performing the musical in eight countries across the globe. All proceeds will go to UNICEF and the schools hope to break their own record, which they set back in 1999 with The Rainbow Juggler, which raised over £100,000 at the time.

"The Autumn will be an exciting time for both our schools. Glad Rags, The Musical, is a chance to break the world record but it's also the 20th birthday of Stagecoach and there will be huge celebrations across the network. We are also planning to perform with American singer/songwriter Tom Chapin and the four Dublin centres to give the Irish Stagecoach schools are own unique seal of approval,” said English actor and Galway principal, John Lucey
