This Friday, 11 April, Galway's underground electronic night LowerState is back at De Burgho's, where ubercool Berlin producer Franziskus of Format:B will be playing a live set. ![]() LowerState is a monthly night in De Burgho's run by two Galway DJs - RoryD and Pete - where the music policy is strictly minimal tech-house. The night is all about promoting refined live electronic music acts; previous guests have included Donnacha Costello and Chymera, while upcoming acts include Sian. All acts booked play live sets with laptops, midi instruments and effects boxes, giving LowerState an edge not experienced with mere DJ sets. Franziskus met fellow producer Jakob whilst they were both studying to become sound engineers in Berlin. After many long nights partying, they decided to see if they could start a project together and so Format:B was born. Their sound is classic Berlin minimal house with an electro edge and their latest release was described as a "huge minimal monster'" full of "flickery percussive loops and wobbly basslines", placing it somewhere between freaky rave and minimal chic. This is a rare opportunity to hear the unique Berlin underground sound in Galway. Support on the night is from LowerState resident DJs RoryD & Pete. Price is €12 and doors open at 10pm. Check out www.myspace.com/formatb for details on Format:B and www.lowerstate.ie for details of future gigs. |
