A Solstice Street Festival is to be held on the weekend of 21 and 22 June in the areas of High Street, Middle Street, Mainguard Street, Market Street, Bridge Street, Cross Street, Quay Street, Kirwins Lane, Druids Lane and Spanish Arch. This community celebration will bring together local groups and entertainers of all sorts who will take to the streets to combine their talents, creating a vibrant and high-spirited atmosphere in the area for the day. A small Celtic themed procession of people moving from Church Lane to the Spanish Arch will take place on Saturday 21 June. This will be informal and will begin at 8pm. On Sunday 22 June, entertainment will include a wide range of live music on stage at the meeting point of Cross Street, High Street and Quay Street. There will be three other main areas for musical and theatrical performance. There will be dancers, poets, storytellers, street theatre, clowns, jugglers, people dressed up, mime and as much more as you would like to bring along. There will be a designated area for various exhibitions and information from local interest groups that would like to be involved. There will be kids' entertainment, face painters, comedy and storytelling. On the day the public, especially children are invited to dress up and be included in the festivities and small parade. This event officially starts at 3pm and finishes at 7pm. For more information, contact William at 087-2876391. |
