Over The Edge presents a summer poetry special with readings by Ailbhe Darcy, John Corless, Tom Lavelle, Anthony Daly and John Liddy at Sheridan's Wine Bar, Church Yard Street this Friday 3 July at 8pm. Ailbhe Darcy has published poems in Ireland, Britain and the US and writes critically for a number of publications, including The Stinging Fly and Verbal. Her work will feature in the generation defining anthology to be published by Bloodaxe early next year called Identity Parade: New British and Irish Poets. With his MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University, Mayo-based John Corless' writing is a mix of political, satirical, ecclesiastical and rural and has been described as Paul Durcan meets The Saw Doctors. Both Tom Lavelle and Anthony Daly have featured down the years at Over The Edge events, while Madrid based Irishman John Liddy has had his many poetry collections printed since the mid 1970s and his work has been widely praised by critics such as Desmond O'Grady and Patrick Galvin. There is no entrance fee and all are welcome. For further information, contact 087-6431748. |
