The final of Central Park's cocktail competition 'Shake Off ' took place on Monday 3 March. With an exceptionally high standard from all entrants the Judges had an extremely difficult task in choosing the overall winner.

Louise O Neill from Tigh Neachtain's bar on High Street was victorious on the night with two creations aptly titled 'Havana on the Claddagh' and 'Stoli in the Eyre'. She shook her way to receiving a cheque for €3,000, making this the competition with the richest prize money up for grabs anywhere in Ireland to date. In second place was Chris Lally representing the House Hotel and in third James Walker from the Front Door.

Centrals Parks Marketing Manager - Paula Feeney is delighted with the success of the event. "Without doubt this has been one of the most rewarding and successful concepts we have developed and produced here at Central Park. There is no doubt that this will be an annual event here in the club and we are already looking towards 2009 and how we will build on the competition. Local bars and hotels have really gotten behind the event and the support has been fantastic. We like to remind our industry peers nationwide that venues here in Galway are the best in Ireland and that Galway bar and Hotel staff are the best in the business."
