Comedy: Richard Herring - Laughter Lounge @ Róisín Dubh One half of fabulous comedy duo 'Lee & Herring' with Stewart Lee and the star of cult BBC Two classic's 'Fist of Fun and Talking C**k' (his riposte to the Vagina Monologues); Herring brings his hilarious hit show-come-mid-life-crisis to The Laughter Lounge following a sell-out Edinburgh Festival run.
Music: DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist present 'The Hard Sell' Brand new mix CD from the world's most famous turntablists, following their past Product Placement and Freeze outings. It's a masterful musical mash-up of rock, funk, country, hip-hop, new wave and more recorded on eight turntables, four mixers and two effects pedals, but for full effect seek out the Hard Sell DVD of the live performance.
Film: 'Son Of Rambow' Slightly sickly sweet yet touching rite-of-passage tale of two young boys (one, raised in a religious sect, gets bullied into re-enacting Rambo-like scenes for a movie made by the other … both miss their absent fathers ). Strictly for sentimental souls or those who long for the heady days of the 80s. (Were there any?)
Gig: Cazalz & Disconnect 4 Skinny jeans, tight leather jackets and funky hairdos ahoy! Hip new indie kids on the block (they have the looks, the cool friends – Pete Doherty- and they're signed to the Kitsune label that's home to the likes of Justice and Simians Mobile Disco) the Cazals bring their rock and roll rollercoaster to Galway. Ably supported by Galway's dirty dance floor rockers Disconnect 4. |
