Gig: Keb Darge - Bierhaus, Sunday 1 June
The grumpy but lovable Scot and ultimate crate digger returns to the Bierhaus for round two of his educational but fun 'here's the rarest and best soul, funk, jazz and rockabilly for your asses' unofficial tour. As with his last appearance, it's free but ticket only, and they're available in advance from Bierhaus.
Comedy: Ophira Eisenberg/Jo Caulfield - Comedy Club @ CubaLive, Sunday 1 June
A generous double bill of laughter for your Bank Holiday weekend from your host with the most Gerry Mallon. American giggle merchantress Ophira Eisenberg (funny lady, but should maybe think about a less tongue-twister stage name) and the caustic observational wit of Jo Caulfield should keep 'em laughing in the aisles.
Music: Martha Wainright – 'I know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too' (Drowned In Sound Recordings)
Must be tough vying for attention in the Wainright household with the ridiculously talented siblings releasing quality album after quality album. Martha's latest opus has her saying 'anything you can do I can do better' to brother Rufus as her wonderfully expressive voice and passionate lyrics sound just quite beautiful indeed. Gets better with every listen.
Film: African Film Festival - Town Hall Theatre, 1 & 2 June
Running over two days in the Town Hall Theatre, this celebration of African film and culture will bring together animation for kids (and adults), music documentaries and political films under one roof. Add some African food, an accapella choir and some reggae/afro sounds in the Town Hall bar and all in all it's a feisty cultural hotpot for one and all!
