Gig: Crystal Castles - Cuba*Live, Thursday 2 OctoberToronto-based electro-clash duo Ethan Kath and Alice Glass are riding high on the success of their eponomously titled debut album and they ride into town this week for one of their trademark intense live shows for the latest Heineken Green Spheres showcase. For free ticket action for this event, register at www.heinekengreenspheres.com. Music: TV On The Radio - 'Dear Science', (4AD)Dear Science sees TVOTR at their most accessible so far and will definitely win them a new legion of fans. Art-rock sits with screamed vocals alongside lush Antibalas horns; a concoction that shouldn't work but does… really really well! Wonderfully dark yet with faint hints of optimism, 'Dear Science' is so confused that it makes sense, sense for a world that doesn't know where it's going or what's happening next. A thrilling album! Comedy: Comedy Comedy - Saturday 4 October, Roisin Dubh (Upstairs)The latest addition to Galway's full to bursting comedy scene, is hosted by John Donnelan and this Saturday night sees the 'country gombeen' joined by two of Ireland's up and coming comics; Simon O'Keeffe, who is MC of Comedy Central in Dublin's Ha'penny Bridge, and the Father Ted New Comedy Award winner Bob Hennigan. Club: Shake - Friday 3 October, Bar 903It's kind of hard to imagine a Galway without its monthly dose of Shake. The elder statesmen of Galway clubbing Aran and Ray always deliver the goods with their smile inducing selection of all boisterous beats from old-school hip-hop to reggae bootlegs and latin bangers to glitzy disco biznizz. Get on the floor! |
