This week's Laughter Lounge at The Rois?n Dubh is headlined by Stewart Lee with comical support on the night from Ian Stone. Stand-up comedian, writer and director Stewart Lee is probably best known for co-writing and directing the critically-acclaimed and controversial stage show Jerry Springer - The Opera, (which won four Olivier awards). His new show The 41st Best Stand-Up in the World! reflects his position in a recent and spurious Channel 4 run-down of comedians. Described as 'a masterful exponent of self-mocking Jewish humour' by The Times, Ian Stone is one of the most talented topical acts and comperes on the circuit. Edgy and provocative, with a self-depreciating style, Ian has stormed comedy clubs all over the world. His many TV appearances include Mock The Week (BBC 2), The Last Word (MORE4), The Late Edition (BBC4), The World Stands Up (Paramount Comedy), The Comedy Store (FIVE - 3 series) and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC 2). On radio he is a regular guest on 'Fighting Talk' and 'The Worricker Programme' (both for BBC Radio 5). Ian is also a regular contributor to the Guardian, The Observer and The Independent On Sunday. Tickets, ?15/?13, are available from The Rois?n Dubh. Doors open at 9pm. |
