Music for Galway, who have been promoting music in Galway since 1981, offer audiences a continuing festival of music from September to May, with international artists from as far away as Japan and Taiwan and from as near as Galway.

Featuring music from 17th century England to present day Ireland and musicians from solo pianist to full symphony orchestra, there will be something to please all tastes.

This year’s season was launched by music and opera HEO with the Arts Council, Rosemary Collier. The line-up for the 2007/2008 season includes two free events featuring contemporary music in the rooms of Norman Villa Gallery on Sunday 16 September at 3pm.

This will feature as part of the exhibition curated by Brian Bourke, 'like notes that shape music' and world premieres of commissioned works by composers Deirdre McKay, Ben Dwyer, Gráinne Mulvey and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and the music of Korean Hyun-Sue Chung.

At a glance, the season will include Bill Dowdall, John Feeley, The Armonisa Quartet, Formosa Quartet, Resurgam Choir, Carol McGonnell, Hugh Tinney, Fred Hersch Trio, RTE National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Vanbrugh Quartet, Schubert Festival, The Amstel Saxophone Quartet, Opera Theatre Company Young Associate Artists, Alison Balsom Ensemble, Robin Trischleer, Gary Matthewman, Herbert Schuch, Schubert Ensemble.
