Before potential applicants start to think about packing their suitcases and heading to London, where the next instalment of the Red bull Music Academy takes place next year, they can begin the adventure right here in Ireland! ![]() Daedelus. Photo: Dolan Jape, aka Dubliner Richie Egan, is a precocious talent, hailing from the city suburb of Crumlin. Earlier this year, Richie was rewarded with the Choice Music Prize for his brilliant, genre defying, third record 'Ritual', an album that swings from acoustic to electronic and from heartfelt soul-searching to black humour. With an amazing lyrical touch, conjuring imagery of human heads, graveyards, apples, plums and petrified forests, it's only a matter of time before Jape conquers the world! Alfred 'Daedelus' Darlington isn't your average cookie-cutter musician. From how he looks (early Victorian Dandyism), to how he makes music, to how he expresses himself and views the world, his is a very individual, 'bespoke' outlook. He is famed for his use of the 'Monome' and adopts an open book philosophy to creating music. Each Workshop will be followed by a Q&A session, where attendees are invited to grill both Jape and Daedelus with weird, wonderful and testing questions. RBMA Workshop Session with Jape and Daedelus takes place on Tuesday 7 July at Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Doors 6.30pm, info session begins 7pm followed by Q&A and performance until 10.30pm. Admission free.
