The Galway Rowing Club and the Town Hall Theatre are hoping to raise the roof for the Abbey Church.

The club and the Town Hall Theatre are teaming up to run a night of song and music on Tuesday 1 July, in aid of the Abbey Church roof restoration fund.

The church is in the middle of a massive fundraising campaign to raise €500,000 in order to re-roof the building itself.

Music on the night will be provided by the Irish Trad-Rock band, The Bridies, which include musicians from the Lord of the Dance, Riverdance and Celtic Tiger, who will play tracks from their successful '4 and 9' and '13' albums. Galway's own balladeer Don Stiffe, meanwhile, will sing songs from his acclaimed album 'Start of a Dream', while well known musician, singer and actor, Pat Naughton, who launches his first solo album, 'A Time To Remember' in August, will also be on stage.

Also performing will be Matt Keane, singing well-known classics and material from his album, 'Out in the Fields'. There will also be some special guests on the night, including classical violinist, Eamon Rabbitte and pianist, Elena Gekker, the Tígh Coilí Ceilí Band and The Celine Hession School of Dancing.

Tickets, €25, will be on sale in the Town Hall Theatre box office on 091-569777. All money raised will go to the Abbey Church Roof Restoration Fund. Ticket prices also includes entry to the Joe Dolan Experience.
