The Laughter Lounge takes a well-deserved break tonight, Wednesday 28 October after the exertions of the hugely successful Galway Comedy Festival but returns on Wednesday 4 November with Glenn Wool. ![]() His easygoing, laidback style belies a razor sharp wit and his material can run from the political to the downright silly. Wool is joined on the night by Lady Carol, Daniel Sloss and MC for the evening, Karl Spain. Lady Carol has risen to prominence in the last few years, thanks to her kooky cover versions of songs such as 'Bucket' by Kings of Leon, 'Creep' by Radiohead and 'Running up That Hill' by Kate Bush. She also sings some of her own songs, all the time accompanying herself on her mandolin. She was a resident nightingale at Andrew Maxwell's Fullmooners show that played in the Black Box last year. At only 18 years of age, Scotland's Daniel Sloss is one of the fastest rising stars of UK comedy. He has a powerful stage presence and brilliant material that belies his young age. He worked with the legendary Frankie Boyle during Frankie's sell-out Fringe show in 2007 when he was still only 16, and he has provided material used in the hit TV show, Mock the Week. Daniel is a regular at the Stand in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and now travels through UK and Ireland appearing at anything from small pub gigs to the Leicester Square Comedy Store, Jongleurs, and at comedy festivals from Glasgow to Leicester and further. Everyone’s favourite limerick man Karl Spain keep a tight rein on proceedings in his own inimitable way. Doors 8.30pm, first comic on stage at 9pm. Tickets (€12.50/€7.50) are available from the Roisin Dubh, Zhivago Shop Street or www.roisindubh.net. |
