Earl Livings

Australian poet Earl Livings will visit Galway this week to take part in the Friday Lunchtime Reading series at Galway City Museum tomorrow, Thursday 11 October, at 1pm.

Livings will also attend the North Beach Poetry Nights' Grand Slam tonight, where poets from around Galway will compete for a place in the Grand Final in December.

Anyone interested in entering the poetry slam, which takes place at BK'S Winebar, Spanish Arch, should bring along two poems, with a maximum length of three minutes each. The winner of the Slam receives a bottle of red wine courtesy of BK's Winebar and automatically goes forward to the North Beach Poetry Nights' Grand Slam on 22 December. The prize for the winner of the Grand Slam is the publication of a collection of the winner's poetry.

Born and educated in Melbourne, Earl is a poet, creative writing teacher and editor of Divan, Australia's first online poetry journal. His poetry, fiction and non-fiction have been published widely in Australia including latest collection. He is also a frequent reader on radio and currently teaches creative writing at Box Hill Institute in Victoria.

Entry to both events is priced at €5. For more information, phone John on 091-593290.
