The Galway-based poet Kevin Higgins has won an Arts Council Travel Award, which will enable him to travel to Los Angeles.

Kevin has been invited to read at the Annual Irish Cultural Festival at Loyola Marymount University on Wednesday, 21 February. He will read his work at a special event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Salmon Publishing. In 2005 Salmon published Kevin's bestselling first collection 'The Boy With No Face'. In the next year they will publish his much anticipated second collection 'Time Gentlemen, Please'.

Also reading at the event will be Salmon founder Jessie Lendennie.

Kevin Higgins has previously read his work in Paris, New York, St Louis, Kansas City and London. This is the fourth Travel Award he has won from the Irish Arts Council.
