![]() MUSIC: Fourtet – ‘There is love in You’ - (Domino Records) Kieran Hebden is one of the few producers of electronic music whose dalliances into other areas (his experimental albums with jazz drummer Steve Reid) are always worth following. His new Fourtet album is his fifth, and quite possibly his best, featuring the electronic/Prince vibes of ‘Love Cry’ and eight other beauties. Essential. GIG: NYE Strange Brew Thursday 31 December Róisín Dubh If indie’s your thing then there’s nowhere else to be on New Year’s Eve. The line-up for the night that’s in it is a veritable who’s who of some of Ireland’s finest bands. Messiah J & The Expert, Fight Like Apes, Disconnect 4, Le Galaxie and Feed The Bears all play with Gugai on DJ duties. Nice! SHOW: The Frog Prince Black Box Wed 30 Dec to Sun 3 Jan There really is nothing quite like a panto to bring back those childhood memories and, indeed, turn you into a big kid again, if only for a few hours at least. PASG’s Frog Prince has all the right amounts of humour, romance and silliness to make it well worth the trip. Ooooh yes it does! CLUB: Substance Kelly’s Thursday 31 December Thursdays at Kelly’s have been in the good hands of Keith Disconnect and Josh Clarke for the last few months and their mayhem-inducing selection of everything from rock and roll to sixties hits to electro has been drawing a cool crowd. Check it out for yourself on New Year’s Eve! |
