Paula Healy is the manager of Flirt FM 101.3 and hosts a show called Substance on Thursdays at 8pm. She also compiles the monthly playlist for the station.

In no particular order…

Surkin – White Knight Part 2 – Institubes
Released this year, but it's so 90s, it reminds me of being way too young to get into nightclubs.

Nifty – Nifty – Atlantic Jaxx
This Basement Jaxx side project is the best thing they've done for years.

Bon Iver – Skinny Love – 4AD
Every time we play this on Flirt FM we get texts wondering who it's by.

Minnie Ripperton – Le Fleurs – GRT
Theme tune to my radio show back in 2000. I just dug up the CD again a few months ago.

Crystal Castles – Crimewave – Lies
I think Crystal Castles may quite possibly have been invented for girls like me (post punk, electronica & She-ra fans).

Metronomy – Heart Rate Rapid – Rough Trade
This is the happiest track off Metronomy's second album. Always sounds nicely off-kilter on a big sound-system.

Little Boots – Stuck on Repeat – Indie
'I Feel Love' for 2008 . Check her out on YouTube playing it on her Tenori-on.

Zoot Woman – We Won't Break – ZWR
I can't believe these guys aren't massive. One third of the band is Les Rythmes Digitales/Stuart Price.

Kano – It's a War – Unidisc
Released the year before I was born, but somehow it sounded absolutely perfect and fresh this year.

Ghostland Observatory – Sad Sad City – Trashy Moped
Electro/rock/funk something-or-other from Austin, Texas. Worth it for their stage attire alone.

Tiny Masters of Today - Hey Mr. DJ (CSS Remix) – Mute Records
Precocious New York sibling duo, with a combined age of 26. It certainly helps that their guest vocalists have included Karen O and Kimya Dawson. I'm jealous!
