A once monthly music event that will offer a stage to local up-and-coming talent commences at The Quays tomorrow, Thursday 2 October.

The first 'Original at the Quays' features performances from Galway bands Wokajo, Lakes On Fire, 21 Outs and Ghundi. Support on the night is provided by upcoming singer/songwriter Neev.

Wokajo will be releasing their debut single 'Insignificant' on the night, which will be available through iTunes and can also be downloaded through your mobile phone by texting 'music 1498' to 57501. Texts cost 99c.

Wokajo formed in February 2006 (RAG Week) after five friends decided to form a band for a one-off battle of the bands performance in The King's Head.

After two practise sessions, the band entered and won the event, which led to a string of covers gigs around Galway and as far afield as England.

Early last year, the band decided to focus on their original material and recorded a number of tracks at Pete Lowrey's Wild Island Recording Studios.

Also for those that can't make it on the night, the gig will be broadcast live on www.livewebstars.com.

Doors on the night are at 10pm with a late bar till 2am. Admission is free.
