Boxing legends Francis 'Southpaw' Barrett from Galway and Mike Tyson's Dublin former sparring partner Joe Egan will be seen on the Galway streets in January 2009 filming 'Blood, Sweat and Wars' , which has got the go ahead for a ten day shoot. ![]() With half the cast already drafted, others will get the chance on Friday 13 September at the Western Hotel, as the casting director will be holding open auditions from 10am until 6pm. Based on true events that occurred in and around Galway City and County in the early '90s, Blood, Sweat and Wars, looks into two fictional Galway families, the Longs and the Burkes. They are Galway's biggest drug suppliers of the time whose deadly feud stems from their organised gangs attempting to run the city. Aimed at giving the gripping portrayal of the often-unknown underground crime scene of 1980's Galway, including drug dealings, bare-knuckle fights and young boys being sold as escort slaves, the film is being produced, written and directed by Galway man Stephen Patrick Kenny. Also starring in the film are Eugene Horan, Graham Feeley, Mike O' Malley, Gerard Faherty, Mike Kinsella and Eddie Heffernan. Actors are asked to bring their own prepared piece. |
