Newly appointed Writer in Residence to NUI, Galway, novelist James Ryan, reads for the Western Writers' Centre on Wednesday 21 February at The Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square at 8pm.


James is a native of Rathdowney, Co. Laois. A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, his postgraduate studies, also at Trinity, focused primarily on creative development.

In 1995 Phoenix House in England published his first novel 'Home'. 'Dismantling Mr Doyle' followed and Weidenfeld published his third novel, 'Seeds of Doubt', and 'Nicolson' in 2001. James is currently working on his fourth novel, 'South of the Border', which is due out later this year.

The reading is sponsored by Charlie Byrne's Bookstore, Middle Street. Admission on the night is ?7 and ?5.
