One of Ireland's longest serving comics and a true jewel in the burgeoning Irish stand-up crown, Kevin McAleer returns to the Black Box on Thursday 26 March with the brand new 2009 upgrade of his unique version of reality. With an act described by legendary UK comic Stewart Lee as "probably the best piece of stand-up that I have ever seen". McAleer's world of ever growing paranoia, delusions and unbelievable nonsense, woven together with a highly crafted script, would even have Beckett laughing in his grave. Since first coming to national prominence in the late 80s on seminal late night 'Nighthawks' programme on RTÉ, McAleer's Tyrone drawl and deadpan delivery is as popular today as it was back then. Far too modest to comment on his recent 'Ten Best Stand-ups in the World Ever' award, crowds are still flocking to his shows anyway. Not a word is wasted in an evening of vintage comedy that is so concentrated that people go home afterwards, drink a glass of water and start laughing all over again. Tickets are available for booking now from the Town Hall box office on 091-569777 or from www.tht.ie . |
