Described as evocative and expansive, poet Mary O'Malley joins chamber choir Resurgam for an exploration of the Song of Songs in music and words on Sunday 21 October in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church at 5pm. ![]() Resurgam, conducted by Mark Duley, presents a programme based around the Song of Songs, the ultimate love poem also interpreted as metaphor of divine love and part of the Old Testament. The choral pieces range from the medieval period right up to the present day with Sub Umbra Illius, a work by Caitríona Ní Doubhghaill, premiered earlier this year by Resurgam. Mary O'Malley was the writer in association with Music for Galway in the past year and reads poems, which further explore the theme of the Song of Songs. Mary O'Malley was born in Connemara and educated at University College, Galway (NUIG). She has written for both radio and television and is a frequent broadcaster. She is a member of Aosd?na and lives in the Moycullen Gaeltacht, Co. Galway. Resurgam was established in 2003 by Mark Duley, and is a project-based chamber choir of up to 24 voices comprising some of Ireland's finest choral singers. |
