Page 3 of 3 The worst thing is probably the junk food mentality to music that's propagated by some in the industry with the short-sighted belief that it's what people want. I think people like and want good music but not everyone has the time or the know-how to really seek it out, which is what the industry is meant to be for. So it's always hard to see them miss the boat on artists that you support and support something else because it has a celebrity factor. What is the biggest misconceptions about performers? That we throw TVs out hotel windows! Some of us meticulously take them apart and send them down in the lift. No! I could have done some things better and avoided others altogether but I have no room for regret. What advice do you have to other performers or people in the entertainment? industry? If you only do what you love doing and keep on keeping on, sooner or later you'll carve a path for yourself. Foy Vance will play the Róisín Dubh on Sunday 9 September. Tickets are €15 and are available from the Róisín Dubh on Dominick street. Doors open at 9pm. |
